A Worm Free World

Two billion people in the world are infected with the intestinal roundworm parasites known as hookworms, whipworms and Ascaris. They are one of the leading sources of disease burden in hundreds of millions of school-aged children. Infected children grow up stunted physically and retarded mentally. Few drugs have been developed—all lack full potency and resistance to all of them is appearing. Little is now being done to address the problem. Here, we are dedicated towards eradication of these parasites and reversing their devastating effects via developing stronger treatments, better detection of infected peoples, better nutrition, and a cleaner environment for the 4.5 billion people living in tropical countries that are at-risk. What can you do? Get better informed and let your representative know you care and that more researching funding is needed.
